Cornell waitlist 2026

That’s kind of odd that they specifically mentioned it in the email, where they also told us not to send anything else to them including LOCI, etc. I wonder if anyone from CoE submitted LOCI or else?

Hmm, yes it is. I would think if someone submitted anything else they are clearly going against what the CoE asked them to do and it would only look bad. But who knows, I dont think it said anything about having guidance counselors call so maybe people did that.

The email specifically mentions no lobbying efforts. That means guidance counselor calls I believe. We respected that and did not ask guidance counselor to call. Hope that was right decision.

My D22 got an email asking to confirm the waitlist interest. Did anybody else get this email?

Could you tell us what does it say, plz?

Which school?

College of Arts and Science

It is asking for continued waitlist interest. Also indicating that a confirmation of the interest means that one would accept an offer of admission if it were extended to them. Is this a good sign?

Sounds like a good sign! When did your D submit LOCI and where are you from?

I saw somewhere on Reddit saying that in 2020 some A&S waitlists got the same email except theirs have an additional statement that “they are in a group of students on the top of our list”

folks, why I found that 2026 class, cornell only admiited 4908 students, while 2025 class was 5836. That’s 900+ cut. Any clue why cornell did this? Can we say, this year Off-WL of Cornell may get boosted?

I heard that Cornell had a housing problem last year. Maybe that’s why they admitted less students for fall 2022.

My daughter did not and also applied to the college of arts and sciences. Seems like a great sign for your daughter!!

I agree - it definitely seems like a very good sign.
The follow up question for the forum (which many must have) is whether anyone has been accepted from the waitlist in the prior 1-2 years who did NOT receive this email?

I guess it could also be the case that students who submitted their loci and waitlist response before April 10 got this re- confirmation email?(April 10 was the waitlist reply ddl and A&S need to reconfirm students’ interest in waitlist activities). Idk how that works but at least it’s a good sign that A&S will be taking some students off this year (seems like last year no one received that email) and your D is contacted proactively by the college

Anybody know if CALS is starting to take people off the waitlist?

We are from Maryland. And she submitted her LOCI post April 10th date. It was mid April I believe.

For CoE, did anyone get an update email in mid-April as they indicated in the separate email as below?

In mid-April, we will send you an update on the status of the wait list.

I did some research about Cornell admits/enroll data.

2025:
admits: 5852. enroll: 3765. Yield: 64%
2026:
admits: 4908. enroll: TBD. Yield: x%.
If x = 64, then, enroll would be: 3141.

Then look back all Cornell historical data, seem to me that they wanna cut the enroll back to 3300-. 2021(last year)'s 3765 is too high.

History data:
2021: 3765
2020: 3249
2019: 3189
2018: 3295
2017: 3349
2016: 3315.

Hence, I predict that this year, Cornell will use WL to control yield and bring more kids off the WL.

Great info, thank you!
Do you have yearly Admitted numbers before 2025 as well?
