Cornell Waitlist Class of 2025

Hah wish it were onky 70k. Tuition alone next year is just over 60k. That doesn’t even include room and board, activity fees, student health fee (more if you need the student health plan), travel fees, Greek fees, books and personal and miscellaneous. It’s outrageous!

Well he/she is going to ILR as an NY Resident so the tuition is going to be cheaper cause of in-state

I’ve heard a bunch of NY residents get off ILR waitlist so I think they really low balled the NY ratio which is why they have reached out earlier so I don’t think the rest of us should be worried other people are getting news already.

That moment when you’re an instate waitlisted for ILR and you’re still waiting

I’m so sorry, I hope you hear good news soon. I was just trying to provide people from others schools with a reason as to why they may not have heard anything yet. I’m still waiting too if it helps.

wait isn’t cornell private tho so they don’t do in state? im from the west coast so idk how it works oerthere

I’m not entirely sure how it works either but I think the Industrial and Labor Relations school specifically is somehow connected to the New York state school system so in-state matters.

Based on what I read, part of Cornell is on land donated by the state so a certain percentage of the colleges established on that land has to come from the state. The tuition is lower (around $50k?). You can Google that.

Anyway, does anyone know if the extended deadline is 11:59pm tonight or last night? Anxious to see if there would be any movement today.

I would assume 11:59 p.m. tonight because for most schools when they say May 1st they mean 11:59 p.m. on May 1st, so it’s probably the same for the May 17th extension.

Is this the extension for financial aid?

From what I understand for some students their commitment date got extended (instead of May 3) because they haven’t got their FA package. Someone on Reddit just said it got extended to the 24th.

Yes, I believe so!

You have to be kidding me an extra week?

Also there could potentially be waitlist movement today. Students have already gotten off even prior to the extension date so why not on the extension date? I would say a good rule of thumb is if you don’t hear back by 4 pm ET, then you won’t hear back that day. I know each school does it differently but sometimes students in the past have hear back as late as like 3:45 ET.
EDIT: I just saw the post about people receiving extensions until the 24th, so idk what this means if anything about WL for today and this week.

Would someone be kind enough to call the admissions office and report back? Specifically for SHA would be AMAZING <3 I don’t have a phone plan rn

Can anyone else confirm the 24th deadline extension? I don’t want to take the reddit comment at face value if it’s just one report

The ones that moved were SHM and IRL as far as I know. Haven’t heard about the other schools. Those who got their FA should have made the decision already.

Does it mean the other schools don’t have a lot of spots to offer/they have a good yield?

I think it’s hard to say what the reasons are as to why they (other schools) haven’t let anyone off their WL yet. I think that yes it could be that they had a high yield or maybe students admitted to those colleges were the majority of the students who got extensions for financial aid so they are still waiting for those students to give them their final answer. Sadly I would guess the former is more likely but once again who knows :woman_shrugging:.

SHA and IRL have really small student cohorts and IRL is public so those are factors to why they had movement early. Nobody except Cornell knows the waitlist situation right now so I’m not going to jump to any conclusions.
