I have very poor grades my first year of high school..I was going through a lot of personal/ family things
freshman year avgs- 75, 80
soph year -- 90,85
junior year- 93, 102 (last report card)

I was diagnosed with arthritis junior year, i don't think that matters. Working in the pathology lab, changed my life and made me a dedicated student and passionate--plan to write about it for essay

Bump 10char

What is the question?

what are you trying to say

Asking about chances maybe?

Don’t bother with the arthritis. Toss out the “Tutor disadvantaged students for one hour”.

If you can keep up your grades for senior year (or if it’s possible, even better) then I’d say you’ve got a superb shot at getting in, especially if you can convey the issues that caused your lower grades Freshman year. Your upward trend is fantastic though.

Keep up the good work.

I see a lot of different activities, but I see no unity in your activities. You’ve joined Key Club, but for what? You helped cancer victims, but for what? You’re in the school newspaper. But, again, for what? I see a lot of working at hospitals and science-related activities, but I don’t see much passion in your work.

Even when you type up your resume, there’s no spark there that I see with many Cornell admits. Ivy’s recognize passion, creativity, efficiency, and sincerity. A lot of your activities seem more like “filler” activities rather than ECs that you actually care about. I would try honing on a specific topic and continuing to progress in that specific topic. It’ll show the universities that you have an undying passion for something rather than your doing something merely to get into college.

But your low income, first college generation status, etc. should be able to earn you a few free points. So far, it’s looking like a match to a slight reach. I wouldn’t get comfortable, but I wouldn’t give up either.

Depends on how severe the arthritis is.

bobaboy Thanks, but I was just listing what I do with no intension of showing some kind of link in my post. that I will do in the application
