Hi Everyone,

Congratulations to all admits! I'm really excited, but I was just wondering if anyone could possibly offer some insight into the Cornell social scene. I'm not a big drinker, and I'm concerned that my weekends will be spent as the DD (in a figurative sense, no driving I know) at parties. Is there anything else to do?

Thanks so much, and congratulations again!

Bueller? Bueller?

It is possible to have fun at a frat party without drinking (I have never experienced this myself but I've heard that it can be achieved).

Plus, there's seminars/lectures by famous people/amazing professors you can attend, two movie theaters on campus, the gym, various functions, bowling, etcetcetc

Thanks norcalguy! hahaha yes, I apologize for the mundane tone of this post.

its lots of fun to be sober around countless drunk people. they're really really funny looking haha. you can totally enjoy yourself doing it, and just drink as much or little as you want. no pressure or anything haha...

In general you go to a fraternity party to drink. If you have friends in that fraternity and you go to hang out with them during a party you can have fun without drinking, but otherwise its all about the booze.

I never drank in high school but I started when I got to Cornell in order to "fit in" but now I do it out of necessity, haha. But do what you feel is right. If you do not want to drink you will find plenty of others on campus that are the same way.

exactly, its no fun if you're not doing what you want...

Thanks everyone! I'm really excited now!
