If you were not recruited by a sport... is there a realistic chance that you can make it on a team through corp squad screening? I know I could definitely play D-3 and be competitive at D-2 but D-1 is a reach.

It truly depends on what sport you're looking at and how good you are at it. I walked onto softball, as did several others, and made the team. I had friends walk-on to basketball and some others sports too, so, it really depends on what sport it is; how heavily USMA recruits for it; and how good you are. But go for it, and USMA also has some great Club Team sports as well!

Our daughter was not recruited. She tried out for the cross country team during beast and had her Big "A" on her jacket by December. So, yes, its possible although which sport may affect the liklihood of getting on the team. She has since decided she like the marathon Club team better and is now strictly doing the LONG runs, ugh. :)

Really does depend on the sport. Hockey, forget about it - the assistant coach told my son not even to bother trying out. All of the hockey players have played a few years of Junior Hockey before coming to WP.

Virtually every other sport I think you have a chance if you're good enough.
