Correlation between Income and SAT scores. Not race?

I would like someone to clarify this for me... I'm not a URM and affirmative action doesn't apply to me or anything in college admission process but I do have questions about it.

So you know how URMs are given a little boost in college admissions because of affirmative action? Or do I sound confused... Now, URMs generally have lower SATs/ACT than whites and Asians? Not sure why this is what it is. But there is research done that people who are low income tend to score lower on SATs/ACT (most likely can't afford to prep or buy books or whatever)

so this leads to the question... Is this really about race that gives URMs a boast in college admissions or should admissions advantage be given to low income students? or both?
