DD got a letter from one of the the AO’s she interviewed with. We were surprised she received it. Is that normal? She has had a call from one, and now this. It was handwritten and referenced parts of the discussion during the interview that were (I assume based on topic) less than common.
A different school she interviewed with spent almost 1/2 the interview talking about DD’s culture (URM applicamt). I am not sure if it was interest or to gauge if DD brings a cultural aspect to the table.
It is so hard to know if we are reading too much into anything, or brushing off something important as insignificant.
You won’t know until march 10. AOs white letters to interviewees all of the time. Not saying this is the case but many people try to game the URM classification. Perhaps she was doing some digging.
A letter means nothing, even one that is personal, complimentary, and apparently heartfelt. I mean it means nothing with regard to eventual admissions outcome. It’s still a nice gesture.
Its certainly a good sign but don’t place too much weight on it. There are lots of examples here from parents whose children received the same type of attention (letters, calls, etc) but then were ultimately rejected. The AOs definitely try to game the system and try to understand if an offer is placed, whether or not the student will ultimately accept.
