Cortland and Brockport

My S is considering both of these schools and would love some feedback on each...housing, meal plans, what the kids are like (partying, drinking, etc).
Thanks!

I don’t have any specifics to share, but I know a few parents whose kids attend Cortland and they are very happy with the school.

My son is a freshman at Cortland. He is the happiest college freshman on the planet. He was at best, a “B” student in high school, in the bottom 30% statistically of Cortland admits and I told him Cortland would not accept him. They did and he made the “President’s List” his first semester (top 3%(?)) academically). I went there for the “President’s List” reception a couple of weeks ago and met most of the boys on his floor. I was so impressed with how nice all these boys are (I sound like my grandmother!). I know they are partying, but he is doing what he is supposed to do and thriving. This is my second child - Oldest daughter is at UVM. The student body at Cortland appears to be so cohesive. It is very sports/activity oriented. He is always doing something. It is the perfect fit for him.

thanks firsttimelisa! it sounds like a nice fit for my son as well. can’t wait to actually visit these schools to see for ourselves!

That was a good post! I was thinking the same thing about my sports-lover son…hmmm, now if I can get him focused on taking those dreaded SAT’s!
