My D is a high school junior and very interested in SUNY Cortland. She has an 85 average at a very competitive school and just took her ACT's. On practices she's been getting a 25/26. What are her chances of getting into SUNY Cortland

My daughter is a current freshman at SUNY Cortland. I think that your daughter has an excellent chance of being accepted. Does your school have Naviance? Try and visit the school and apply EA. Most kids from our high school with your daughter’s numbers got in last year.

Thanks for the info. we have Naviance and are visiting in a few weeks. Is your daughter happy there? Where are you from?

My daughter LOVES it there!!! We are in the northern suburbs of NYC. The kids are friendly, loves playing sports ( she is not on a school team). It’s a very warm and friendly place.

My son is graduating (well almost-he has to complete his internship) next month. When we went to an open house, way back when, I didn’t think he would get accepted. I don’t remember his average. 83 or so? His SATs were in the mid 500s but he did take a challenging course load in high school and was a very well-rounded kid. His essay was very sincere about how Cortland was his top choice.

He has done so well at Cortland. He has loved every minute (academically and socially) and has made wonderful friends. Students at Cortland are generally nice, normal and happy. He will complete his internship this summer. A Cortland alumni helped him secure this position. I know he is somewhat prepared for a job search but I do wish he had received more career guidance. I assume it is available but he did not pursue it.

Good luck to your daughter!

Thank you twogirls and firsttimelisa for your posts. Everyone I speak with that has kids at Cortland seems to love it. I hope we like it when we visit and that she gets in and has an amazing experience! Good luck to you both!
