Cosmos 2013?

Last year’s COSMOS thread was so much more lively ._. we got 17 days left!!!

I’m so nervous!! Good luck everyone! :)

I’m so anxious for decisions.

I really hope that they post decisions a day or two early like previous years… I want to know!

hello everyone!
I’ve been reading past years’ threads and yeah, it’s died down a lot, for some reason. Is there another ‘official’ thread?
I applied for Astrophysics UCD. My EC’s are quite unimpressive but I do have a 4.0 UW and 600s on math and science STAR last year. I also put tutoring as one of my top activities.

I made a thread but it’s pretty much like this one, I guess this year people who applied don’t go on this site… Kind of a bummer, after reading last years thread I wanted to have one like that this year

Well let us make this it! haha

only 5 days left …

4 more days ahh and why don’t you head over to “COSMOS 2013 Waiting” more people are starting to go on there!

Daughter received email today saying that she is on the wait list for UC Irvine Cosmos. Her first choice was CLUSTER 4: LIFE ON THE EDGE: BIODIVERSITY AND ECOSYSTEMS OF COASTAL CALIFORNIA.

My son is a feshman and received an email today that he has been admitted to cluster 8 at UCI.

Is is only people who applied to Irvine who got their applications accepance email. Im scared because I didn’t recieve anything but I applied to Davis for The biomedical science cluster.

It’s probably because UC Irvine COSMOS program starts the earliest, June 24.

Hello! Congrats to everyone who got accepted
I applied for cluster 7 & 8 at UCSD and got wait listed for 7.
I reeeally hope to get in, but I’m afraid there won’t be any dropouts… nervous;;
My question is, did anyone receive anything for financial aid?
I haven’t received anything in any form…

Hi, my son is going to high school next year ( 8th grade now). He applied to UC Davis Cosmos in the new cluster (makers and inventors)… Surprisingly, he got into it… Now, we are very confused whether we should send him there. For couple of reasons

 1. looking at some statistics, Cosmos does not have that many rising freshmen in their classes… It is very small. It mostly consists of rising juniors and seniors… Will he be able to find friends and have fun in the midst of older kids…
 2. Cosmos alumni can not apply again… That is what the rules say… So, he pretty much can not go to cosmos again to do research in other cluster.
 3. colleges do not care about what kids do in 8th grade summer… they only look from 9th grade onwards…

Are my concerns true? Anyone who went to cosmos as rising freshmen who can give me some advice?

thanks

Parent here. Summer before 9th grade is considered 9th grade as far as ECs are concerned on the common application for college. After you “graduate” from each grade level, the summer counts towards your next grade level.
