I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, but I'm curious as to how much more does a double major cost?

Our daughter completed a double major. She did have to take a very full course load each term…the max her university allowed without a surcharge. Our kid had NO AP credits that applied to either major. She did take 15 credits one summer term…so I guess the added cost of that summer term would have to be considered additional cost.

However, both of my kids had friends with double majors who never needed to take a course in the summer, and completed double majors in four years. It took very careful course selection and planning.

The majors would be inter-colleges (i.e. Political Science and Finance). Would that make a difference?

My daughter’s were engineering in the college of engineering…and biology in the college of arts and sciences.

You really need to ask your university about your double major and the ease with which this can be accomplished…and the max number of credits you can take each term without additional charges.

I will say…my daughter’s two majors had different core course requirements in addition to the requirements for each major. That is why a summer term was needed.

Check with your University. Some charge by the credit hour, some by the semester with a cap before being charged extra.
