<p>We're trying to compare some different scholarship and financial aid offers. I know it varies wildly by school, year, and major, but can anyone give me a ballpark idea of how much you spend on books every year?</p>
<p>If you buy them at the bookstore you could easily spend 1000 over 2 semesters, but if you go to halfbuy or 50 other resale sites for textbooks the price could drop to 300. Just takes more work.</p>
<p>Depends a lot on the major. My daughter is a science major. Freshman year we have probably spent $7-800 on books - and they were mostly second hand.</p>
<p>Same as Swimcatsmom. $700 to $800 dollars and about half used. Watch for coupons at the beginning of the year for college bookstores. Sometimes they had them out at orientation.</p>
