Colleges in which cost of attending less than 18 000 $

I think you need a little more understanding about the Financial Aid system in the US. Many colleges and universities set a high list price, but give financial aid/scholarships on the basis of need and/or merit. For example, Harvard sets its list price at 48,000 or so, but states that families making under 60,000 a year do not have to contribute to their children's education, meaning the real cost for people with such family incomes is around 6000 per year: 2000 loan, 2000 work-study, and 2000 summer contribution.

Some schools offer international students financial aid. In theory, the family should be able to pay for a student's college expense regardless of how high the list price is and how low the family income is if the school is meets full need. If you think your family can afford 18k, the school agrees, and it meets full need, your family will be paying 18k a year.

Only looking at schools with list prices under 18k is detrimental because it precludes most good colleges in the United States. However, I do know that Olin College of Engineering (it offers, among others, an Engineering major with concentration in Computing and Electrical/Computer Engineering) does not charge tuition, and the estimated cost of attendance is around 16k (maybe a little more for you due to flights to India). Cooper Union also has no tuition, but I don't think it accepts students living outside of the US who aren't US citizens or permanent residents.

I hope this helps. Keep asking questions and I'm sure other people on CC will answer yours. My advice for now is to try to find schools that offer good financial aid to international students rathe than setting an 18000/year benchmark.

None, can you cite a few such universities (that offer generous aid to international studets)--also with a good concetration on science/engineering? From my research, publics almost never award int'ls anything (except loans) or plainly deny eligibility for any consideration altogether.

McGill in Canada has great tuition rates at below $17,000 for all students, I believe, per year. I'm an international student.

One of the cheapest colleges in the US is Brigham Young University in Utah, at which total costs do not exceed $10,000. However it is affiliated with the mormon church, which means that they have very strict rules on campus (you can't have people of the opposite sex in your dorm room after 7 PM or something, girls are only allowed to wear 1 piece swimming suits etc.). I heard that Ithaca College in NY is also a good deal.

Ok thank you ,does anyone knows about SUNY plattsburgh ?
How is it ?Tell me the quality of education there !
ofcourse i went to their website.but you can also give me some information.
Thank you

There was a discussion about financial aid for a prospective engineering international student http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=380699&highlight=olin.

But there's no real way to shortlist until you give a little about stats and estimated EPC (an income estimate in dollars should be sufficient).
