So, I've been reading on a lot of these "what to bring to college" lists that I should bring costumes for special events. At first I wasn't actually planning on bringing any, but I went to a ND sendoff party today and they assured me that I would need them. But, exactly what kind of costumes, and how many of them should I bring? I have a wide selection of past Halloween costumes to choose from, but I don't want to invest too much space on them. Also- my dorm info packet (Walsh) said I should bring a "Catholic schoolgirl uniform"- are they serious? If yes, care to tell me why?

wow lol, thats a somewhat strange request. ive heard that we need them too, but since i dont have any at home, im going to do what people there often apparently do - shop at thrift shops for cheap costume like clothing. for example, keenan has the disco ball at the bowling alley and i dont have a disco outfit, so im planning on making a thrift shop run for that.

Yep, there is a Goodwill not too far from campus, and that is what I would use. However, I have never worn a costume at ND (but hten again I am not a big partier nor have I gotten in enough trouble to need a disguise). As for the Catholic schoolgilr uniform...that just sounds like trouble, lol.

Lol, I know its a weird question, but I really wasn't sure about it. Especially the uniform bit, lol- it seems kind of sketchy to me too...

I can't imagine I will be a big partier either, so maybe I'll hold off on the whole costume thing and see what I can scrounge up down there if the situation comes up.

Well, I found out the reason behind the uniform. Apparently Walsh hosts an annual Walsh Academy Fall Frolic aka "Wild Catholic Schoolgirl" dance. Not sure if that makes me feel better...

You don't have to go to your hall's dance if it isn't your thing. I am not much the dance type so I never have gone to mine (though I do regret not going to a dome dance, but you know).

Eh, I guess I'm willing to give these things a try at least once. Although it still seems a bit iffy to me, lol. If I hate it, I suppose I can leave.
