86 days left until my favorite holiday, so I'm getting pumped! Yes, I realize how pathetic this makes me.

Anyway, I'm curious: what sort of atmosphere does your college have around Halloween? Does anyone get into it, put up decorations in their dorm, or anything? Just curious how it'll be in college!

Its insane here in Greencastle. LOADS of fun. Some go out trick or treating in the neighborhood, but most hit up the frats for a good time (my frat has a halloween themed party every year). Its always nice watching what the girls will wear as well :)

I dressed up as Tigger last year. This year, i’ll probably be something more original.

Trick-or-treating at Georgetown sounds AWESOME! And parties at the frat houses! Really hoping my school has something fun going on, but I don’t know anyone who’s lived on campus or cared about Halloween who would know what goes on.

At my school there were a lot of people dressing up, especially for parties. There were lots of Halloween parties off campus all weekend. I went to the school’s alcohol-free Halloween event which was actually a blast. Then, at midnight, I went to see a student production of Rocky Horror Picture show. It was actually a really fun night and I had fun grossing people out with my gore makeup. I had a slit throat done with gel flesh, and it would open and close a little when I spoke. It was awesome. :)

So at my school, there was a lot of dressing up and partying. Some people went the entire day in costume, others didn’t dress up until the evening. I have no idea what my school next year will be like though.

no one dresses up at school except for nerds. People just dress up for parties/the bar. Last 2 years I was hitman and wanderlei silva since I had a shaved head. Now that I have hair I have more options.

The day is pretty mellow. From 6-8pm certain dorms on campus have kids come by and certain college students dress up modestly and choose to give out candy to kids in good spirit. But during the night the average student wears their hoochiest costume (for girls) and goes out to bars or frats in search of a party, gets completely wasted and stumbles home puking all over the place. The local taco bell was closed the day after halloween because of flooding in the bathrooms. Halloween is essentially a weeklong celebration in college (one big excuse to party, drink, and dress up ridiculously). Coming from high school I sooo did not expect this.

UNC-Chapel Hill has one of the best Halloween celebrations around-up to 80,000 people flock to Chapel Hill every year to participate in it. Lots of (costumed) drunken mayhem on Franklin Street, and parties everywhere.

The town of Chapel Hill tried to get a wrap on it last year, though, blocking off access and clearing the streets with a line of state troopers in riot gear at around 1 am. Still, I think about 30,000 people came. I certainly had a good time!

for those college kids who are a little less extroverted and may not want to walk around in a head-to-toe costume all day long, you can simply just dress how you normally wouldn’t. i did this last year… my style is normally jeans/sandals and a tee or fitted blouse w/jacket. so i just dressed up in a goth style. picked interesting, black clothing with sliver accented stuff (zippers, chains, etc) and went all out with jewelry and makeup. simple. cheap. and i still felt like i had achieved the “spirit” of halloween.
