I’m a out of state student from Maryland and will have a 3.18 unweighted GPA and a 4.0-3.8 weighted I just took the SAT and was wondering what score I need to get in?
@dodgerman711 - Here’s the common data set for the current MSU freshman class - https://opb.msu.edu/functions/institution/documents/CDS-2015-2016.pdf The test score profile is on pages 8-9. The 25th/75th percentiles for the (old) SAT were 980/1260 and 23/28 for the ACT. 13% of students submitted the SAT and 87% submitted the ACT. Only a guess, but the test-score profile for OOS students is likely higher.
Your GPA could be a problem. 88.7% of the entering class had a GPA higher than 3.25 out of 4.0.
@Beaudreau Oh so its too low? So they look at upward trend?
I had about a 3.2 freshman year, 3.0 sophomore year, 3.8 junior year, and 3.9 senior year. My cumulative gpa is 3.4 weighted. Most of my classes sophomore and junior year were honors, and my senior year classes were mostly ap. My standardized test scores were:
OLD SAT
math- 680
reading- 440
writing- 580
composite- 1700
ACT
reading- 22, 18, 16
writing- 22, 20, 14
science- 22, 23, 22
english- 22, 22, 23
math- 28, 29, 32
composite- 24, 23, 23
I am not sure how the new SAT will work. If you can you might want to take the ACT just in case. I am out of state from Pennsylvania. Make sure you apply as early as you can. I think you have a good shot at getting in.
I had an 18 on my ACT and 2.9 GPA and I was admitted on the spot
Are you for real? Were you a transfer? If you can get in, then I can definitely get in with a 20 ACT and a 3.14 GPA.
