I'm an African-American female. I'm a junior, but will probably have about a 3.2 to 3.3 unweighted GPA by the end of this school year. I haven't taken the SAT yet, but I am determined to get at least a 2100.

So..
-African American
-3.3 GPA
-2100 SAT score
-From out of state

What are my chances? fingers crossed

NCSU doesn’t get much OoS competition as UNC, but it still will be sort of hard to get in. If you can pull it, a 2100 should be excellent for state, as it’s average SAT falls around 1750~1850. But unless your class rank is high (meaning a rigorous school) or your schedule is extremely rigorous, then your GPA will not cut it. Albeit being an URM may help you in the long run.

^ I agree. NCSU does put considerable weight on GPA. Hopefully you will make that on the SAT but it can be hard to tell until you take it. What are you planning to major in? Some departments or “colleges” at NC State are more competitive than others, and are therefore harder to get into.

@JustMe1, I am also a URM, well half (White/Black) and I was accepted. Im from Tennessee and my GPA was a 3.7 and my ACT was a 24 at its highest when I applied on Feb.1. Yet, my materials got lost and were finally received on Feb.26 and my acceptance letter was addressed on March 1, so maybe this will add some hope(:
By the way my GPA will be around a 3.8 now and my ACT is like a 30, but they didnt see that. If you want to see all of my stats. Go to the thread -North Carolina State University Regular Admissions (Class of 2017)- Good Luck!
