Hi!
I'm a high school junior and I think Dickinson is one of my top choices. I'm interested in the accelerated law program.
I'm not sure what my gpa is exactly because I messed up royally freshman year and got a 2.3, but got a 3.6 sophomore year and a 3.9 so far in junior year.
I have not officially taken the SAT yet. My PSAT was 175, without studying.
The official SAT practice test on the College Board website said that I'd likely score around a 1970-2050 in the actual SAT and I am studying very hard. I may not send my scores if they are less than 2000.
When I graduate high school I will have 3-4 AP classes, 10 honors classes, and 5 college credits from dual enrollment, plus 9 high school credits in the arts.
My EC's are kind of weak.

Newspaper 11-12( editor of science and tech+ education)
I taught at a summer camp for three weeks the summer after tenth grade. I plan to do the same this summer. I work part time at a fast food restaurant. I also am a student reporter for my local newspaper, published every week.
Will a bad freshman year really affect my chances that much? I don't want to go into why my grades were so bad, and I may or may not address that in my essays.
Thanks a lot! I know it is early to be thinking about this, but I'm a chronic worrier.

If you have a good reason for low grades that year, see if your GC will address it in their recommendation instead of trying to do it yourself. Study hard for the SAT, and maybe give the ACT a try as well.
I would say your stats look solid, but stats are only a piece of the puzzle at Dickinson. Your Common App and supplement essays will be important, as well as your perceived interest. If you’re serious about Dickinson, let them know that. Visit campus, sign up for the mailing list, and interact with your regional counselor. They take perceived interest very seriously, as they want to admit students who are enthusiastic about the school.
