Could I get into Engineering? Or is it too big of a reach?

Girl, so that might help. White, so that won't. Here's the abbreviated version:

2250 with 770 math
760 math 2
780 physics
790 math 1 (don't ask me why I took both haha)
AP: Physics 5, Lit 5, Spanish 5 (taking computer science, studio art, euro, and calculus this year. only 6 AP classes are offered in my school but I'm doing computer science online and self studied spanish)

Bausch and Lomb science award plus departmental math award two years and book awards and stuff, AP Scholar, stuff like that

ECs (short version):
-robotics captain
-stage manager/production manager
-instructor at art studio
-math and science tutor
-national honor society
-professional face painter
-built a telescope
-lighting and sound for some famous dance groups
(all since at least 11th grade, mostly 9th)

recommendations: "It doesn't outright say I want to adopt you, but I think it's pretty clear" from math teacher, Spanish teacher said one of the best he's written

I really really love Cornell. I'll be applying RD because of financial stuff. My parents went there for grad school, if that helps. Cornell is my BIGGEST REACH. I want to go really badly. I'm actually sitting in a hotel room in Ithaca right now waiting for my tour tomorrow.

I feel really silly doing the whole "chance me" thing, but no one in my area gets into "top schools" ever. Everyone goes to my state flagship. For that reason, I don't have anyone to compare to and I'm going into this process really blind. Do I stand a chance?

First thing I noticed: If you’re applying to CoE, it might be a better idea to get recommendations from teachers who’ve instructed you in the maths (you already did) and the “hard” sciences (physics, chemistry, etc.). Spanish isn’t even a core subject, and while it might help you if you were applying for linguistics, it could make the CoE admissions officers look at you sideways.

Other than that – there’s nothing “wrong” with your app, per se, as it is with 70+% of the applicants. All of the grades, scores, and activities are up to par. (Any big awards? Internships?) Without a “hook,” though, and in the RD pool, I’d put you at a mid-to-high reach. Make sure your essays are outstanding.

Spanish is generally considered a core subject for recommendations. I also have a recommendation coming from my AP Physics teacher, but he hasn’t finished it yet.

Yeah I’d definitely say you’re in the qualified pool, but no guarantee on actually getting in.

I think you have an at least average chance. COE admit rate for females (25-35%) is double that of males.
