does princeton have parking for freshmen? and if it doesn't, does anyone know of frosh that keep their cars in outside garages or something like that? bc i dont think i would be able to part w my car...

Freshmen are not allowed to have cars, but plenty of freshmen have cars anyway. I'm not sure how they manage it, but it doesn't seem to be difficult.

hmmmm... I will like to know how they manage it...

yeah me too... i love cheating the system! anyone else know anything?

maybe if there are extra parking spaces they allow some freshmen to use them but they would not tell you this.... I guess we will soon find out.

I think the problem is more with the convenience of a car, and from what I've heard, a car is more of an inconvenience freshman year. Try your bike for a semester.

a bike???? inconvenience or not, i think i'll take my chances with the car. :)

great! I'll be hitching a ride with you for those long shopping expeditions ;) so be prepared...

Mike, is there a public parking garage off-but-near campus where students could, perhaps, be renting spots? I know my uncle rents one on a monthly basis in a parking garage near his apartment (in downtown Detroit).

It seems to me there's pretty much any store you'd want to shop at in Princeton itself, Gianni - I mean, a Ralph Lauren, a J.Crew (2 stories!!!!), a Talbot's, an Ann Taylor.... lol I'd be in heaven at least :)

" I'd be in heaven at least :) "

and I'd be in haven (pun intended) :)

I would not be shopping for clothes in Princeton. Too expensive for me!

all the shopping....sigh jk haha. but i know i would enjoy the sweet town. plus the pancake store!!

i think a major drawing factor for me was the proximity of the j. crew... kdding. kind of. anyone else know about the car situation? the garage thing sounds probable, gracilisae.

yes....what is the deal? i will have a car at school next year to. do we get like parking ticketS?

The website specifically says "no cars", so I don't quite know how you're going to manage that... I don't see why you'd need a car unless you live close by and plan on going home all the time.

If it means parking tickets or cheating the system, then I have no interest. It would be nice to be able to leave campus whenever I want. I am still interesting in knowing how they are managing it.

I just know it says 'freshman can't have cars'; I haven't looked into it farther than that because I don't expect to have a car on campus - what am I gonna do, drive the 28 hours it takes to get home? Hardly.

Freshmen with cars must be doing it illegally (:o). As prettyfish said - the Princeton documentation claims not to allow freshman to have cars.

many freshmen do have cars since most live in the new england area and drive to school for enrollment. i heard having a car is much more convenient than taking public transportation everytime u need something. =D im not quite shure how they have cars tho....=D kinda hard to hide hehe

UPDATE: when they say freshmen cant have cars, they mean they cant park on university parking lots bc theres not enough space and what is there is reserved for profs and older students. it doesnt mean that freshmen owning cars will be systematically shot. since i am spoiled and dont want to part with my car, i have learned that i can either a) purchase a parking space from an upperclassman, this apparently is pretty easy or b) park it in a garage semi nearby.

So that's how they are managing it. Thanks, filmxoxo.
