Could someone guess my chances? (is chance an official verb here?) :)

Aite, so I wanna go to UVA, but it is kind of a reach for me.

Asian Male
First generation college
low income family

2160 (800Math, 720 Writing, 640 Reading)
SAT II: 800 Math, 770 Chem, 760 Physics
AP: 8 total
4 taken last year: Chem: 5 Macro Econ: 3 US History: 3 French: 3 (terrible)

GPA: 3.65
All honors where available
Class rank: we don't rank but I'm guessing somewhere in the 70% :((((

Essays: pretty compelling, but not "sextastic" or very well-written
Recs: Decent
Counselor: Decent
Hooks: iono, first gen college?

thanks guys.

in state or out of state?

in state, so that might help improve my chances

toss up, im surprised at ur ranki givin ur SATs and ur APs seem very diff. if u told me to guess ur APs given ur SATs, idk ace ur essays and id say in

yeah my school is hella competitive
my essays look good so far

hopefully i'll get in

I don't think it's a toss up at all.

Your SATs are well above average (1380 is the 50%, yours is 1440 [good job, btw!], your course load is challenging, your GPA is decent, and your school doesn't report rank (although I doubt you're in the 70th percentile).

A major hook is your first generation status. If you look on collegeboard, you'll see UVA ranks first gen status as a very important admissions factor.

I don't think chance threads are the best place to base any hopes on, but OBJECTIVELY you fit very well. Plus, you're in state.

yo, I rove kerry crarkson, ashree simpson, micherre branch, paris hirton, and britney spears too!

on a side note, rooks rike you've got a decent shot. I think 3.75 is the magic number but if your essays and ECs are regit then why not.

IS + low-income first-gen?

Don't be 100% sure but I say be fairly optimistic, if not confident, of getting in. Except for GPA / class rank (and I went to a no-name high school), I had comparable (or weaker) stats coming in as an OOS low-income student.

unless you like, go to that magnet school, thomas jefferson or w/e, where your gpa would be low, looks like its possible.

-easyyyy modeeeeee

yeah i think first gen is good for me, as most of you say.
but i am definitely in like 70-90% of my school.
i'd like to point out my low AP scores

hopefully i'll get in.
thanks guys.

and no l's on my keyboard, i'm gonna get you when we return to school. so you betta watch out.

and easy mode, i do not go to that nerd school. lake braddock is where it's at homeboy

I visited TJ (my gf's HS) once ... well, it has a bit of nerds ... but a lot of the students behave surprisingly normal. :p

bumpity bump
