Could someone help me with this scholarship?

This is about the Next Generation Service Corps at ASU I know this might be an eye roll for some of you, all my stuff about ASU, but I could really use the help!!

For those who are confused, this is a leadership program that I was really interested in and was suprisingly selected to be a apart of. On the Scholarship Portal page, it says that the “Amount” is “Up to full tuition plus an annual commitment stipend of $2500”.

Later on, I recieved an email after I asked how the finanical part worked, and I was told that each student’s case would be revived by the office that deals with the financial aid in June, (And here we are in June…I haven’t heard anything back yet, and I dont want to keep sounding like a pain in the butt, its just I would like to be exact about my finances. The stipend I can use for anything, so I plan to use this aid for my meal plan or my dorm), but by accepting my position. I was guaranteed to recieve the commitemnt up to full tuition and the stipend.

So my REAL question here is, I’m stuck because I haven’t accepted any of the loans yet after all of the advice I recieved about Parent PLUS Loans and how they are not a wise choice, which I told my parents. I don’t want to keep bothering the people who lead this prgroam, but they said to calculate an idea of how much the award is for each of us, don’t include grants, university scholarships, or loans. So if I haven’t accepted them, do you guys think that that will be considered in my case for more funding, or no, because that is considered “aid”?

I have a rough amount of what my award would look like, as I did get a scholarship from Vantage West and with calculating all the money I have received and saved up that goes toward my degree!

Thank you all so much. I TRULY appreciate it. Please let me know if you need more clarification or information.

That’s what you need to do. Take the tuition amount which I think was about $12k, subtract your outside scholarships (the Vantage West amount) and that leaves you with the remaining tuition. You should receive that plus $2500, but none of us can tell you how much you’ll receive if the program can’t tell you. We don’t really know how the actual amount you will receive will be calculated.

You still have time to accept the loans after you receive this decision in June.

Just to clarify, your parents filed their tax return and you went into your FAFSA and used the DRT to link your FAFSA to their tax return? That is needed to verify the income.

Did you check your student portal to see if any information is posted?

in your previous thread above I had looked up room and board fees for Taylor place, which was about $13,000.

So if your tuition will be covered and $2500 can be used towards room and board, you will still have over $10k to pay.

So you will still need your Stafford loans of $5,500 most likely.

And the rest, can your parents pay that?

You need to find out if your health insurance is sufficient.
