Schools: Rice, Emory, U. of Miami, Davidson, Oglethorpe, Hendrix College, Austin College, New College of Florida, Eckerd College, Guilford College, and my safety University of Alabama

My school offers 6 AP classes, my schedule is the most rigorous you can take with the exception of AP Calculus.

african american from alabama will help...try and get the ACT up and if you do that you should do alright

African American, First Generation, Alabama, this is gold at most schools. Hard to evaluate your situation, if it wasn't for those hooks, i'd say you're looking out of your league based on your test scores being below the 25% mark. Getting those test scores up to at least a 29 as you said would get you into Emory and Rice, I believe. I think right now you're into Miami and Alabama. Sorry, i'm not familar with the LAC admissions.

Glitterchick,

I think you stand a very good chance for acceptance into Emory. Given that your school only offers 6 AP classes, you have challenged yourself to the extent you can at your H.S. If you can raise your ACT score, it would help, although I think that Emory will look closely at your personal circumstances, e.g., first generation African-American. Emory has continued to focus on its diversity and multiculturalism. It offers superb support to all of its students, and I think you would do well to consider Emory. You don't mention your need for financial aid, but it has a large endowment and is in a position to grant generous aid to those students who need it. Good luck to you!

Do you take the APUSH test at the end of 10th grade and 11th grade? How does that work?

I took the AP exam at the end of 11th grade, the course is spilt in to 2 years.
