Counselor Rec, DO WE HAVE A SAY?

i just got a form from my college counselor, asking us some questions about ourselves, high school, and what we've done.

is it true that this is a way for you to explain yourself? through this recommendation. should i take advantage and try to explain some situations, or my involvement in school, etc.

any advice on what information to provide?

Yes, this is a way for your counselor to find out about you, so take your time with those questions so you provide the info your counselor needs.

okay, thanks.

any information, on important things to highlight. obviously not specifics, but a general idea for all students?

We had a packet similar to yours and we had to do a fake letter of recommendation for ourselfs so the counselors can get an idea of what we want included in our letter. I included an explanation about a "not so good" grade, my favorite EC and how it showed my passion and leadership and I included things about my stronger subjects.

That was what was important to me so I just think you should put things you really want a college to know about you :)
