Counselor

Apparently I am supposed to get to know my counselor really well if I want her to write me good college recommendations when I'm a senior. In all honesty, I don't really like my counselor that much. Would you still recommend that I talk to her often and build up a good relationship with her?

definitely, but make sure you are building a strictly good relationship. i would avoid arguing with them even if they dont know what theyre talking about because letters of recommendation are very important

What should I discuss with her if I'm a sophomore? Like the classes I'm taking, ECs, SAT/ACT... ?

For that matter, should I just randomly go in and talk to her about I spend my time and ask "What do you think about everything I am doing?"

It isn't the most important to have a "relationship" with your counselor, especially if you aren't really willing to / your counselor = weird.

Just don't get on his/her/its bad side, and drop by once in a while to ask questions that you really have. Getting "close" just for college recs is mainly useless; that kind of approach won't make much of an impact anyways.

Just hold your nose and be friendly.

It doesn't kill anyone to make a sincere conversation or visit once in a while (the counselor actually knowing your name will be nice too)
