<p>I hear it's a good idea to get to know your guidance counselor before senior year. But can someone tell me how to actually initiate a relationship with your guidance counselor, and what "getting to know them" actually means?</p>
<p>I have a pretty good relationship with my VP, but I wanna get to know my counselor too. I hope someone hear has some ideas.</p>
<p>Ask your counselor to sit down with you and make a high school graduation plan: courses to take, activities to do, tests to prep for, etc. Start asking about colleges, put together a list of safeties, matches, and reaches you like :)</p>
<p>Send greeting cards for christmas and last day of school.</p>
<p>I got to know my gc really well because I was an ELD student and had a much more difficult/weird time trying to mavigate through high school. Also, No one in my family had had an American education before lol, so i had to look to my gc for help XD</p>
<p>Ask about course prereqs for any ap honors classes you want to take.</p>
<p>If you feel down, chat with them.Talk about what bugs you, and figure out a solution with gc. You might be incomfortable telling friends and parents, but you can tell your gc because they are required to remain confidential abou your personal info and issues.(learned this after havin multuple break downs/ hysterics at school XD)</p>
<p>I’ve only talked to my guidance counselor once and that was this year. Shes an ugly, fat and very mean. I tried to switch classes and she gave me a big NO and i tried to talk other options and she was angry the whole time, until i finally decided to leave</p>
<p>but thats only 1 counselor, our school has 2 others so I can always use them instead</p>
<p>^ yeah don’t **** off a counselor XD every college requires their evaluation XD make sure you stay on their good side… yeah switch counselors if your current one is giving you a hard time lol</p>
