I'm annoyed because they didn't give me my essay score. I have my writing score, but don't get the essay until January 5th apparently.

yayayyy! 140 increase!!! Even though I already got into Cornell, I am sooo pleased with my SAT scores!

670 CR
620 M
740 W !!!!

I kinda wish I could make use of these scores, oh well :/

Critical Reading 790 99%
Math 770 98% (slightly disappointing because i'm usually very good at math, very un-asian of me, oh well)
Writing 800 99%
Multiple Choice 78 (score range: 20-80)
Essay 11 (score range: 2-12)
for total of 2360
not bad considering this is the first time i took, i don't think i'll take it again, i'm done yay ;D
think this good enough for Ivy's? like columbia?

Hey I'm part of the December 2190 club also!

650 CR, 770 M, 770 W.

Extremely disappointed with the CR score.

Seems a lot of us have two really good sections and one mid-600 section that puts us in the 2170-2230 range.

^ YESSSSSS ARGH It's so frustrating.

Congrats on your excellent scores, everyone! :)

Even if they are lower than you want, rest assured, most of the population would love to have such high scores. And for people who are planning to retake the SAT, good luck, but don't stress too much. It isn't worth it in the long run, especially since your scores are def high enough already. ;)

My December score is a 2400, which is very unexpected. I could hardly believe it--I owe a lot to CC for giving me confidence and various tips.

^nice, so you are gonna retake right?

probably. he had an 80 MC subscore but an 11 essay..... can't have colleges seeing that now can we!

yea btw cc lurker, me and stephenn were just joking not trying to rub it in, dont want someone to get pised off at me lol

but anyways, more serious question, cc lurker was this your first time taking it and/or are you a junior. if this wasnt your first time what was your first time score?

also, this is for anyone, i got like a 660 reading/800m/780 w, i know many people woulndt recommend me to take it again, but since many colleges dont care about the writing and i want to apply to hypsm (which means 660 is lower 25th), should i think about retaking it again if i know i can get atleast 700 in CR with experience and more studying?

and what is the weight between SAT II/SAT I for top colleges? do they care about it just as equally?
if youve gone through precalc in math/APUSH in school/AP chem in school, is it very easy to get 800/800/800?

thanks

psht, speak for yourself. i was being SRS.

I'm pretty consistent:

May 08: 670 CR 750 M 780 W
Dec 08: 670 CR 750 M 800 W

I got in ED so no one will ever see my Dec score, but I finally got an 800 on a CB test so that's pretty cool!

btw when do we find out curves for this test?

im curious what a 700 CR would have been?

My scores were: critical reading 790
math 660
writing 690 (71 MC and 8 essay)

I was really happy with the critical reading but the other two not so much! Still my total score went up so I can't complain:D And I was also wondering if anyone knew the curve yet...

HiPeople: Lol, it's okay. I somewhat understand CC humor (which includes a heavy dose of sarcasm ;)).

My first time taking it was in eighth grade. I scored like 1650 or something? It's my first time taking it in hs, though, and yes, I'm a junior.

I personally don't have experience with precalc/US history/chem & their corresponding SAT tests, but I've heard that the SAT tests are much easier than the AP exams (for US history and chem). So if your school has good classes in those subjects, I'm sure you will do well. And Math Level 2 is pretty straightforward, so if you do well in your precalc class, you should be set for the SAT test as long as you familiarize yourself with the question style.

It's hard to give a solid, confident recommendation regarding whether you should retake the SAT or not, because it's definitely something that varies with different people. However, I can tell you that critical reading was my worst section until I took a bunch of SAT Literature practice tests in May. Studying for Lit boosted my critical reading a lot. Try practicing/studying for a while, and if you see a noticeable improvement, retake the SAT. If you don't, don't. Your score kicks butt already anyway.

stephennn:

As a side note, I'm a she... :p

Okay, so the December 2190 club is now:
Chronicfuture12
Haydare
ajwchin

By the way ajwchin, we both have the same superscore, except mine is a higher CR instead of Math, and we both have suspicions about our CR scores being low. Anyway, I think I'm going to put this on my apps, because I need more leadership positions. The December 2190 Club will hold its next meeting in 2090 to plot the world's destruction in 2190.

So much better than I expected! Yay!

CR: 740, expected ~720
M: 770, expected ~680
W: 730, expected ~710

=2240, aka 200 points better than my PSAT score predicted. Yes!

Cool, another club to add to my resume. Were you at the 1990 meeting?

I just wanted to give a little tip for HiPeople- I've taken both the Math II & Chem SATII's, and I have to warn you that the Math II test is not as simple as you may think. It has a lot of tricky, even obscure precalculus stuff that you probably learned once and never used again in calculus - I recommend you study it a bit.

As for chemistry, AP chem basically covers everything you need to know for the SATII. (In chemistry SATII, big topics such as stoichiometry are continually reinforced in AP chem, so you shouldn't forget anything).

And CC Lurker, congratulations!! I took it this December also and got a 2360, because of my 8 essay (hahah)

12/2008

Reading: 800 [750 in January, 730 in November]
Math: 800 [710 in January, 760 in November]
Writing 750 (78 multiple choice subscore, 8 essay) [770 in January, 800 in November]

That's a 2400 superscore!

I got an 800 in writing in November and so I didn't focus on that at all. I guess if I had actually tried on the essay, I could've gotten the 2400 this one time, but I'm fine with a superscore.

My advice? Just take lots of practice tests. The Princeton Review's 11 SATs is very similar to the actual SAT, and was a lot of help. I probably did 2 tests the day before the exam, and that was my entire practice. I was a standby tester for December, and I didn't really want to do anything. I figured that the 6-7 tests I had done in preparation for November was enough, and it looks like I was right!
