i’ve had a countdown going on my laptop since about 8pm lol. good luck to all tonight! 2 more minutes (and then the extra 20 to actually get to the decision since the connection will be bombarded :p)!!!

waitlisted?!?! this is ridiculous!!

Did others get waitlist for the fall and acceptance for spring?

Got in! woot!

Waitlisted…

Does Elon take appeals?

If so how do I start one?

I was admitted for the Spring semester and waitlisted for Fall 2010… COOL ELON. nice of you but I don’t really feel like hanging out all fall.

Did those of you who are saying you got waitlisted get offered admission for the Spring? or were you just waitlisted?

I’ve gotten into more competitive colleges than Elon already. I’m not really disappointed as much as I’m just irritated.

i too was just waitlisted to my surprise…i expected an acceptance especially since my sat’s are in the top 25% of their averages…
anyway,
i did not see anything about being admitted for spring. it mostly just says im waitlisted. nbd for me though USouth Carolina is offering to pay over 2/3 my tuition and i got into clemson. still kind ofa bummer, i didnt expect it. better than rejection i guess? oh well.

Aw, my friend just got waitlisted. Elon was her #1 by far, so she’s really depressed at the moment. :|

How does waitlisting work exactly? When would we find out if we’re accepted from the waitlist?

i was just waitlisted… something tells me they took more than they meant to in the EA round. I have much better acceptances on my list though so i am not too cut up about it. i am sorry for anyone who is disappointed with their results - and congrats to those who made it!

it just goes to show - the college process is a random one.

yeah EA mustve been too many people i agree. id actully gotten deferred in EA guess it didnt help ive never even visited.
anyway, i was by far the most likly person in my high school to get deferred to get in. everyone around me on naviance was either acepted or deferred than accepted.
admissions is very random indeed!

did all of you get emails stating that you were accepted? if so, does it state what your major is? my d applied to musical theatre, got an acceptance, but we think this is separate then being accepted into her audition major. We think that dept would write her.

You have to visit and show interest to get in at Elon. (similar to a lot of private colleges)

If you really want to go there and are waitlisted then go and sit in on a class. You will get in then.

Just wanted to throw this thought out to all of you that got waitlisted – Elon makes the majority of their offers to ED and EA applicants (something like 70%) Obviously, the ones who applied ED are attending, however, there were a TON of EA applicants. Those applicants didn’t have to commit and I think a whole lot of them are sitting around with acceptances in their pockets waiting to get all of their acceptance results by April 1. By May 1 all of them will have to make a commitment and I really think that there’s a good chance that the waitlist will start moving. So if you are psyched for Elon, don’t lose hope, and remember that from their perspective, the people who showed them the most interest were the ED and EA people. They know that a bunch will drop out otherwise they wouldn’t have such an extensive waitlist full of good students – they would have just rejected. Hang in there! And if you are still psyched to go, stay in touch with Elon and let them know – it seems like they like to know we’re sincerely interested in attending.

yea i’ve gotten into a lot better colleges than elon. this is really weird how they waitlisted really good applicants, even if they accepted a little too many applicants during the EA round. oh well, i accepted a place on the waitlist just for the heck of it.

Last years Wait list data:

Number of qualified applicants offered a place on waiting list 2,754
Number accepting a place on the waiting list 1,215
Number of wait‐listed students admitted 90

DD was deferred from EA and got wait listed as well. We visited from CT and dd has done her best to indicate her high interest and desire to go there by being in pretty regular contact with her admissions counselor. It’s her far and away first choice now and she did communicate that, but I can’t imagine anyone told them it wasn’t their first choice. Don’t know what to do, as I hate to “waste” $500 committing to another school and then have Elon come through with a spot for her. I think she would be accepting of “it wasn’t meant to be” if she’d been rejected, but this is almost worse, lol!

ctreelmom, sorry for the long wait for you and your DD. My D was waitlisted from RD with top 25% stats, but will likely not take a spot in the pool. What a waste of time, gas money, and app fees.

Good luck!
