So are committee meetings being held everywhere this week?

Wait, what are committee meetings? Is that where they sadistically laugh and burn all of the applications because they're so glad they're done? Or is that where they all sit together and say, "Soooo, these are the nerds (no offense) we have chosen to endow with a nice letter on april 1st" ?

With 29000 applications and only about 2000 offers (if even that), we're looking at sub-7% admit rates. Considering the absurdity of this situation, I for one am not holding my breath.

i was going to send in some more info, but was told by my interviewer not to bother: the decisions have already been made. If so, what are they waiting for?

They are waiting for that Ivy League agreed-upon decision day.

Do you guys think the acceptance rate will go down even further next year?

^
No, unless they really try to get everyone to apply in a strange endowment boosting move.

it cant really get much lower can it lol

Haha, well committee meetings, from what I gathered, are the actual meetings where they decide whether or not you're in. I think. And I'm pretty sure there are different committees for different regions, and they're probably waiting for the whole committees to be done with their meetings so that they can send in acceptance or rejection or waitlist letters.

If you were being serious (I couldn't really tell :) ), then there you go ;D

lol, I was being serious, just in a sort of sarcastic way. Thx :)

For me it seems alot easier in march. It is so strange how some of us talking right now might get into Harvard, Yale, or Princeton and the like. Oh well, the whole process got alot easier for me considering the fact that The Lord blessed me to get an almost full ride to the University of Texas, so everything else is just gravy.

^ I had the same thought reading the "do you honestly think you can get in?" thread. All of us don't think we'll get accepted, but a few of us will be. 24 days until we find out who.

Congrats on UTexas! I heard back from URochester yesterday, it's such a relief to be accepted somewhere!

I really should've applied to UT. Half my friends are going! But, Dbate, did you see that they're doing away with the Top 10% rule? Apparently 86% of Texas' top 10% applied this year and if it keeps going this way, the class will be 100% Texan by 2013. So, they're ditching it. All the underclassmen at my school are freaking out.

" I just got letters of acceptance from every Ivy I applied too. And I just noticed that I accidentally applied to my safety early decision. it's binding. FML"

good joke, or could there really have been such an horrific story? :)

That's what makes it precisely awful. How about this one?

I dated this girl that had this weird morning ritual. ( SHE told me about this, mkay?) Whenever she got out of the shower, she would towel off, like any normal person, right? But she hated the inside of her ears being wet, so she would stick Q - tips http://www.samuelmerrin.org/images/q-tip.jpg in her ear to dry them.

Once she accidentally left a Q tip in her left ear and forgot about it. Later, she felt something funny there, thought it was a bug and went to swat it and

BAM - Popped her eardrum!

actually, my biology teacher told me about a friend of his who used Q-tips, until one day, the phone rang.....

L0L and WOWW at the qtip stories!=0
ohh my. this counter thing... it's making me even more agitated! hahaha i was hoping i'd act oblivious to everything until the actual date, but seeing those awesome seconds swing by...ahh it's ecstasy! let's keep those fingers crossed! anything in the world is possible ;)

On the subject of Q-tips...

Shut up, brain, or I'll poke you with a q-tip!

march is going pretty quickly guys, im scared!!

Squaregirl I just read about the to 10% thing after you said it and I think it is a really good thing. I mean it is only going to help the stature of UT and maybe more of my friends not in the top 10% will get in.
