BusterDad, I will put this post on my refrigerator - very poignant. Thank you. I hope that everyone will post their decisions after March 10. It will be fun to celebrate, and consoling to share disappointments – it’s nice to know there are others wearing the same shoes on March 10. Best of luck to all.

I need some insight on late applications. My NMH application was recorded as complete on Feb. 2 (when the deadline was the 1st). Mercersburg is still missing my personal recommendation (they said that they don’t necessarily NEED this, but they would definitely like to have it). Lawrenceville’s application was also just complete today (it took some time for my recommendations to get there). Am I not going to be receiving a decision on March 10th for any of these schools, considering that I missed the deadline? Also, I mailed my application for Dana Hall on the 1st (the day it was due). They just received it and are saying that my application is complete. This was also in the email:

“The application deadline was February 1. However, Dana Hall continues to evaluate new applications on a rolling basis, after the deadline, depending on availability of space. If your application is not complete, please submit any missing application parts, including the required test scores, as soon as possible. Also, if you have not scheduled or completed your interview, please contact us after all application parts have been submitted, to schedule a campus visit or phone interview.”

Does that mean I won’t be receiving a decision on March 10th?

I’ve just gotten over this same problem.

So, basically, what I’ve learned over the past year is that schools aren’t unreasonable at all about deadlines. For your part- application essays, especially- the stuff in your control needs to be in/postmarked by the date. Emphasis on “in your control”. Anything else (like an interview where you couldn’t get an interviewer, a rec where the teacher forgot, etc.), I don’t really think it counts against you as long as it arrives ASAP and in time for a decision. That “cutoff” date is probably different for every school and isn’t really set in stone.
What I would definitely suggest is getting in touch with the AOs; you can explain what’s going on and they will be able to tell you the actual policies of the school. I was in almost daily contact with Exeter over my interview (no interviewer) and English rec (mysterious disappearances). The AO told me the really last time for my file to be complete for a M10 decision is Feb. 14, a month after its normal Jan. 15 deadline. It all finally got done this week.

Good luck!

25 DAYS LEFT!!!

Where is everyone applying? I wanted to compose a list! That way we know if any of us are applying to the same schools. It would be so interesting if any of us got the opportunity to meet each other! I look forward to possibly meeting some of you at revisit day (hopefully?)

starkali - just fyi, this info normally circulates very quickly once acceptances are out. If you think the board is active now, just wait until March 10 to April 10. CRAZY. EVERYONE is posting where they’re revisiting, where they got in, where they didn’t, reflections on the process, reviews of schools. Its crazy.

^ Sounds either exciting or depressing…haha

^haha yeah it is! I wasn’t accepted last year so i was kind of just looking on with envy at posters that “couldn’t decide which revisit days to go to,” and “can’t believe they have ot limit is to 3 schools!”
yeah, but the page legit exploded. idk if it will do it again this year (i certainly hope so), but it looked really fun.

omg, it’ll probably be filled with yellow! Yellow chat icons and yellow thread circle things… haha.

Hoping it’s excitement>envy for all of us!

^ Wow. Sounds fun- I’ll try not to get jealous if I don’t get in anywhere.

On a side note, I keep having dreams where schools notify me early, but even then I think I knew that I was dreaming because isn’t it, like, illegal in TSAO law or something if they do that since those schools’ve ‘agreed’ not to notify until M10? The OCD part of me is wondering if a contract, assuming there was one, of that sort is legally binding. And if they have done it before, the applicant would prolly keep mum about it, wouldn’t they? It’s ridiculous, of course, but I WANT TO BE PUT OUT OF MY MISERY. I can handle rejections… but the waiting is DRIVING. ME. NUTS.

OMG I HAD A DREAM LIKE THAT TOO! There were like this little postcard notecard things, and I opened it…but right before I read it I woke up. Freaking weird. And yeah, I just want to know! But if/when I get rejected, I’ll wish I was still in that dreamful, hopeful process of waiting :P

^same here!!! i got a letter from one school this week and it was kinda fat. My whole fam. didn’t know what to do with it so we just kinda poked it until i opened it.
it was a confirmation that my application will be read.

When I read that last sentence my heart kinda dropped. I bet you were all like, “You couldn’t have just emailed it? Really? A huge fat package?” lol

I bet it was overnight fedexed and had a big Congratulations stamp on it too. “Oh sorry, we ran out of packages to send them in…” haha lol

hey this is reallly unrealated to this but i’m kind of worried about my reccomendations- they said i was an excellent student blah blahh blah but they wrote one line per section (if they even filled out that section…)
my teachers are very lazy people and i’m afraid the poorly filled out reccomendations will hurt me!
ahhh how many days left until march tenth???

You’ve waived your rights to read recommendations, so you shouldn’t have been looking at them in the first place.

I’m just wondering how exactly do you find out online if you are accepted/rejected to your high school, more specifically Lawrenceville. Thanks so much!:)

Hey!!! I’m applying to lawrenceville too! my brother applied last year i think, he got rejected though. he knew it through some online thing where they post the results! they will send you the log in ID and password closer to march 10th!

I CAN’T WAIT i’m literally dying here.

Artsygal88, which grade are you applying for? i’m applying for freshmen class of 2016 :)

Applying for Lville 2016 too!!! Hope to see you at revisit!!!

^ I am south american, and we talked to the schools and we explained because my school now refused to fill out the forms privately online or send them themselves by mail since it was “to complicated” or “too expensive.” I read my reccomendations but i never altered them or anything, and as I said, i talked to my advisor and the schools and its all worked out.

@rachywachy I’m applying as a freshman too, and thanks for your answer! Good luck on the 10th!
