Countdown.

Definitely not if you made a typo. It happens. If it was a mistake that might be perceived as a product of bad spelling, probably not...because if someone seizes on that to "reject" your application, you weren't getting in any way. It's just not going to make or break you. But...if you were so inclined...one way to correct that is to follow-up with a "re-transmittal" of the material that includes the correction. But you ought to do that within minutes. If it just happened, you can still do it...but, honestly, do you think it really matters?

Yes, it was a typo. I used the word in the letter several times (spelled correctly :D). I think I'll be all right. If anything, it might even catch their attention! :)

24 days left for me!

Hopefully I'll get my Andover Summer Session letter sooner. :)

2 Weeks Left!

So close!

So close, but yet so far... !

Is the blackout on contacting applicants not followed by all schools? Or do schools cheat? We were contacted again by a coach at one of the schools my daughter has applied to. Checking in with us to see if we had any more questions about the school and commiserate about the tension of waiting for admissions responses. We weren't expecting it. Made my daughter feel good as it is one of her top two choices. Trying to keep her from getting her expectations up. Twelve more days.

Only certain schools adhere to a blackout policy. I'm pretty sure the ISL members are bound to such an agreement:

Belmont Hill School
Buckingham-Browne & Nichols School
Brooks School
The Governor's Academy (formerly Governor Dummer Academy)
Groton School
Lawrence Academy
Middlesex School
Milton Academy
Noble & Greenough School
Rivers School
Roxbury Latin School
St. George's School
St. Mark's School
St. Paul's School
St. Sebastian's School
Thayer Academy

So...you take the information about School #2 and cut a deal with School #1 to admit her in return for her providing evidence of an unauthorized communication...right? See what I'm saying? ;>)

I wouldn't guess that the coach who contacted you was trying to give you news, but I'd guess that he put your daughter on his tip list and was probably nervous about your daughter's acceptance of the school's offer as it doesn't look good when your tips decline the school's offer. I would take it as an encouraging sign but not a guarantee, as adcoms have to factor in lots of things into the admit list.

If you had given a negative feedback in that phone call, it might have resulted in a drop from the tip list as they can call adcoms and express doubts about a recruits likeliness to accept.

This of course is assuming the coach is not on the admissions team.

School wasn't on that ISL list. In fact none of the schools my daughter applied to are. I don't think the coach knew anything definitive. Our prior interaction with this coach (and related adcom actually) had been very positive so hopefully means coach is doing all that can be done.

11 Days Left!

It will be March 10th very soon. I predict that on that fine Saturday morning, many people will be crying (tears of joy). ;)

Eleven days . . . eleven days. It is soon, isn't it? However, I have three quizzes, two tests, a long geometry project due, and an essay to write on plutonium, all before decisions come. So now its seems kind of long. :D

I don't think I'll be crying. I'm not that obsessed.

10 Days Left!

Time flies. :)

Chaos, I'm expecting you to give us a daily number. :)

he wont... i will beat him to be the first to post the number tmw :)

i'm nervous. i live in canada and i leave on march 7th until the 17th so i can't see my decisions to then. do the schools generally e-mail you I know that I can't check online for any of the ones i have applied to!!! ughhh for once I want to delay my spring break :/

I can't wait to check back here tomorrow and see what the number will be! I'm on pins and needles. I'm thinking 24.486, but that's just an educated guess.

EDIT: Come to think of it, if you took these numbers and asked the Nat'l Association of Independent Schools' financial aid calculator what tomorrow's number would be, my 24.486 number would be pretty darn close. A lot closer than the real number, to be sure.
