Hi,I am apllying as a transfer to a few schools and I have a few questions.
For the how is your school not meeting your needs essay, how tame should it be? There are some pretty negative anecdotes about the faculty, but I don't if there there is a line I shouldn't cross or if I should just keep everything somewhat unbiased (if that makes any sense).

Also, I was wondering if it is necessary to send AP scores if you scored below the minimum a school needs to grant you credit.

Another question I had was if it would be detrimental to send another rec if the school only asked for one and said to refrain from sending another. The reason I ask is because the dean's report form would take care of the 2nd rec, but my school is so large that all they do is check the boxes and sign it. I think the extra rec may help me, but I don't know if it is worth the risk considering they said to refrain from sending another.

Finally, I was wondering how I should thank my professors for taking the time to write me a rec?

Any answers are greatly appreciated, Thanks

Do not be negative about your school; try not to give unqualified opinions about the professors or administrative faculty in general. If a school does not fit your needs, state your criteria and state the reasons why such a school does not meet that criteria.

I don't want to be negative but there were some 1st hand experiences with counselors and an experience about a teacher who did not know the basics in regards to their class (I know it sounds really bad on the surface, but these are also contributed to my decisioon to transfer)
Also, I don't know how to express my reasons for leaving w/o giving examples. Anything would pretty much make the school seem negative in that respect

I have been able to do it viz. my school does not possess a decent philosophy program, it does not possess resources that cater to philosophy students, it does not encourage research in specific areas of philosophy, the academic rigor is not difficult enough, need I go on?

If you are going to comment on the professionalism of the faculty, do it tastefully; most students are incapable of discerning what raises the "red flags" in the adcom's eyes, so the general recommendation is to avoid even writing about it, but if you can do it, then go ahead. I do, however, recommend that you show this piece to another person before sending it.
