So if I want to load up on five pretty difficult AP classes for my JR year, while taking two study halls with that, and get like D's, C's and one B in those classes, and end up with a 3.5 gpa by the time I graduate..... Is that good? Will colleges take into consideration that you took a ton of AP classes. That's why your gpa might not be high enough. And you get one D, a few C's and one B while taking those Ap classes? Thanks!!!!!!!!

Why not just take traditional/academic classes…?

They’d probably rather see you take classes you can do well in. Junior year is the most important year as far as grades go. If your school offers Honors level classes you should probably take those instead of setting yourself up to get C’s and D’s

If you’re getting low grades like that it suggests that you can’t handle your course load. You know the saying"…yada…yada…rather see you get As in AP classes." Don’t load up on the five AP classes and get poor grades. Chance are they’d be able to find a kid that took the same classes and got all As.

If you can’t get higher than a D in an AP class despite taking two study halls, you should probably be in the regular class. At that point it’s not “challenging yourself,” it’s just irresponsible.
I would think several Ds and Cs would put you below 3.5. I mean, someone who always got Bs and never ever got a C would only have a 3.0.

I have only gotten A’s so far, except for 3 B’s… so yeah… i already calculated this and it would put me at a 3.5. and english is my weakest subj yet my parents r forcing me to take AP Lang next yr. I took ap lit this yr. A 1st semester. Idk for 2nd…

There are no Hnr’s classes at my school. it is either regular or AP. regular is too easy. AP can be extremely hard.

They prefer A’s and B’s, with an * occasional* C if they’re extremely tough. If you really think you’ll be averaging mostly C’s and D’s, rethink it. Take less AP’s or easier ones.

Who prefers A/B? I just want to get into a college that accepts students with at least a 3.0 gpa. My ACT score is well above their average for students that get admitted. My GPA at the end of SR yr will probably be a 3.4? Is that bad?

Colleges do. I mean, that’s great you want to take AP’s, but personally I think it wouldn’t be the best idea to take AP classes knowing you won’t get A’s and B’s. You have to understand that’s D’s and C’s don’t look that great, whether they are an AP class or not.
