Course Rigor?

Hi everyone,

I'm feeling somewhat conflicted about my schedule for next year (I'll be a juinior). I'm taking:

AP Language and Composition
AP US History
Honors A&P
Honors Physics
Honors French IV
Honors PreCalculus

What I am most worried about are the sciences. I had the option of taking AP Chem, but chose not to. I did very well in Honors Chem, but I'm more interested in Anatomy. Plus, the class is notoriously difficult at our school, and girls constantly tell you to never take it, as they didn't feel prepared for the exam. Should I have take it just to have 3 APs, or does taking two sciences balance that out?

I personally would take chem if you felt that you could do well in the class (even if you choose not to take the exam) and would take anatomy senior year. That being said, take what you are comfortable with and know that you can maintain a decent GPA with.

Thank you for your reply!
Thing is, my school has so many restrictions (for example: Seniors can only take 4 AP classes at most; You need special permission from the principal to take more.) I really, really wanted to take AP Bio senior year. The teacher is amazing and Bio is my favorite subject. Would it be death to take AP Bio and AP chem senior year?

Not death, but not something most people would want to do. If you plan to take AP Bio, AP Chem and anatomy before you graduate it will be much easier to take AP Bio and anatomy at the same time (the material is much more closely related).

That’s one of the restrictions I mentioned. At my school, AP bio can’t be taken until senior year. AP Chem or Anatomy act as prerequisites to that class. I might just just take them both senior year, and then choose an easier elective?

I took both AP Bio and AP Chem my junior year in high school, and it was fine (but I also liked both subjects so that likely helped). It’s definitely do-able.

@baktrax Thanks!
