Course Selection

I just got my school of business registration information sheet the other day. I am an international business major and apparently i can't take a level I of a language, which sucks because I wanna declare german as my minor. For my history requirement i wanna do intro. to the black diaspora and for afro-american i'm looking at black women in america. I still am unsure about how all my APs will translate so I don't know what Englsih i'm gonna be in and i have yet to take the math placement. Plus, i really wanna do mock trial and/or debate. This stuff is so stressful !!

Have you decided on which language you're going to take?

I still definetly want to do German no matter what they may say. I'm a native French speaker with 7 years of schooling and AP language and lit. credit. I'm looking for a change.

There's definitely wrong with change. I've been taking Spanish for five years, but I don't consider myself 'fluent' because I can make basic conversation, but my speaking is just horrible lol. So why are they making you business students taking an upperlevel language course? I mean what if you haven't had a language courses in years?
I'm in COAS, I'm probably just going to take Spanish 3. I would at least think the School of Business would let its students keep their options open.

I agree Socrates. This seems really unfair. I'm gonna maybe call the school because this sounds really dumb. I know that they want Int. Bus. students to have a global curriculum but to restrict us on language doesn't make much sense. I'll probably just take German I in the fall and II in the spring. Do you know what courses you wanna take?

Yea, I'd definitely call them.

I want to take:
Calc 1
Intro to the Theatre (divisional A requirement for COAS..well one of the classes I could choose)
Intro to Political Science
Spanish 3
Fresh Comp 002..I guess? lol
Freshman Seminar

You must be mmmbop from Myspace??

please do not take intro to black diaspora or women in society.....those classes are difficult, especially to start off with. I dont think they shoud be options for freshmen. However, if you are confident and you know that you want to take them, go ahead. I wish someone had told me what to/not to take before it was too late..Also use www.ratemyprofessor.com to help you choose professors and classes. I think you should start off witht he easiest classes that most freshman take to get yourself grounded with a great GPA.

Rising Sophomore at HU

Thanks for the heads up. I definitely used ratemyprofessor.com AND the myspace.com professor rater. I want to make a smooth transition from high school to college and I hope everything turns out fine.

I am a little confused, I don't know how I am supposed to register for classes since I am still waiting for AP results! I know that so far from previous years in AP classes I have earned 8 credits, I think?!?!? AP human geo and AP pyschology and two credits I earned from Loras College! What math class is everyone registering for this year???

I took the Calc AP exam..I know I did pretty ****ty on that, I haven't even confirmed my score yet. I just know I did bad lol. I'm going to retake Calc 1.
