Anyone else scared of Wes style course selection? I did an overnight when everyone was doing that mad crazy click thing; it was, along with having to watch The OC and the I-didn't-get-into-Brown syndrome, one of the wierder parts of my stay. Make no mistake, I will be waiting anxiously for the letter in April.

Wesleyan's lack of engineering also makes me slightly worried that there will be a dearth of geeks and gamers; are there any 1337 students around campus? I won't be bringing my own PS2 to college - I'm counting on generous hallmates. ;)

Actually, I worried a little about this too. However, it's really not a problem. I'm an astronomy and physics major and work for ITS, so I'm probably as far into the Nerd Inner Sanctum at Wesleyan than anyone. I don't think there are any people at Wes who actually go into IRC channels and say "d00d, 3y3 4m teh l33t hax0r. Fr33 K3v1n!" and mean it. Obviously where there are math and science nerds, there will be geeks, programmers, gamers, Unix hackers, and so on. I have a PS2, and many of my friends have PS2s.

It's also worth noting that Wesleyan doesn't really have any really pre-professional programs (like engineering). The science departments are quite good, but a lot of them are teaching with the assumption that students will be going to grad school (or maybe med school) if they do anything with the major after college.

If you are into engineering, Wesleyan has a 3-2 program with Caltech where you spend three years at Wes to get a BA and 2 years at Caltech and get a B.S in engineering (or is it a B.E ?).
