Princeton, Stanford, Michigan and Pennsylvania have started a new, free set of courses similar to the MIT OCW except with professors actually teaching the material. Seems like an awesome idea to me.

One of my old math professors is teaching calculus on it this fall. If anyone feels they need to brush up, I would definitely suggest taking his class. He was one of the best professors I ever had.

Vouch for Udacity. I started the first few weeks of their Google self-driving car class and it was amazing. I wish I could’ve finished it, but my real school got in the way, haha.

Yeah, that’s pretty much what happens to me as well. These courses are all really cool, but I can’t afford to dedicate a lot of time to them when I have a full schedule of CS classes to take IRL.

Can you use these online courses as credentials when applying to college…bc i know you get like a certificate or someting at the end of these courses right?

I don’t think you can put these classes on a transcript or anything, but they’re certainly a nice EC. Taking challenging online courses always shows your motivation to learn.

I’m taking my first Coursera class (it just finished up, actually), and I really enjoyed it, so I can definitely vouch for “Model Thinking”. It was a really fascinating course, and I can’t recommend it enough. Any other gems found on Coursera?
