The OP likely means the “common” coronaviruses. There are 4 main coronavirus strains that circulate all the time, precovid. So they are in the main type of coronaviruses but are fairly distinct and different (and cause much milder disease) from SarsCov2 (covid19). These coronaviruses, as well as rhinoenterovirus, adenovirus, etc can and do cause death in children every year, and are known to be especially dangerous to the cerebral palsy population.

Re: my grandnephew and a coronavirus diagnosis … this happened just as Covid 19 was being discovered in the US. The doctors did assure my niece that it wasn’t Covid 19, but they didn’t specify the coronavirus type. He was in ICU for many days, was on a ventilator and almost died. He already had multiple issues before the illness, including seizure activity. His seizure activity worsened due to his illness, and he experienced some regression that still impacts him. The vaccine will provide protection that he needs, and the very real risks associated with contracting Covid 19 outweigh the risks of any possible side effects. I didn’t mean to highjack the thread, but I did want to clarify my earlier post.
My cousin’s 5 year old granddaughter was vaccinated yesterday. Her mom posted a very excited video on Instagram where her daughter proudly shows off her bandaid!
My son and daughter have toddlers, but both states they would vaccinate as soon as it is available for their age group.
