To assist students and their families as they prepare to make their final decisions on where to attend college this fall or prepare to apply to college next year, College Confidential is hosting a panel discussion via webinar. This will provide students and their parents the opportunity to hear directly from college admissions professionals on important topics such as:
- campus re-opening plans for Fall 2020;
- how colleges are preparing for the potential of eLearning in the fall;
- financial aid; and
- how the switch to eLearning, online testing, online AP exams, shifting testing dates, and limited volunteer and extracurricular activities will impact future student evaluation and admission decisions.

How will MBA admissions committees view OPTIONAL pass / fail policies due to COVID-19? My university is allowing us to pass / fail classes on a course-by-course basis.
I am a senior in college and currently have a cumulative 4.0 and it looks like I will get a A- this last semester. If I pass / fail the class, I get to keep my 4.0 but if I don’t I’ll end up with a 3.99. I am not sure what I should do?
It seems like a lot of people are getting off the waitlists this year (presumably due to COVID-19). Because there’s going to be an influx of students at the schools, are they going to let less people in for the year 2021?
Also, how does deferring work? If many students choose to defer due to online learning for the fall, will it be harder for students graduating in 2021?
And I’m not really sure if this is relevant but how to waitlists work with UCs? Is it random or do they rank students and admit the highest ranked ones? I’m asking because it seems very likely to get off a waitlist this year, especially for UCs (from what I have seen).
Thank you!
With the high uncertainty from Covid-19, how would this affect admissions and waitlist for international students?
It would be great to tell us in advance what schools are being represented on the panel. Thanks.
Do you think most schools will offer an online option for the fall semester for students who do not want to risk getting the virus on campus?
