Hi! I am new here. I am currently a junior. I am planning to apply for CalPoly Pomona later this year. I want to major in Computer Science. Since it’s currently impacted, what are my chances of getting in for Comp Sci with an El of 4,600?
Would it be a good idea to take SAT subject tests for Math 2 and physics to make me more competitive?
CSU’s do not consider SAT subjects in their admission decisions only CSU GPA, test scores, local area and HS course rigor. Your EI looks very competitive. Make sure you apply widely.
Do you know the average El for admitted CPP CS students last year?
CPP does not list EI’s by major so I cannot help you with that information.
Last question: what aspects of the application do they look at? Do they look at the rigor of senior year classes? If I take 4 classes senior year +1 or 2 community college classes, would that make me look bad for both CPP or UCs?
They consider your CSU capped weighted GPA, Test scores, HS course rigor including Senior year and local vs. non-local applicant.
Community college course are fine as long as you realize that the grades will be part of your college transcript so if you apply to Grad school/Medical School etc… you will have to submit the transcript.
UC’S have additional criteria which includes personal insight essays, EC’s, awards, special talents, AP/IB scores, Geographic location etc…
with an EI of 4600, CPP is really likely to admit you. SDSU and UCSC are probably also options for you.
good luck
