What are my chances

Hello

I want to know my chances for Cal Poly Pomona. I have a 3.5 UC GPA and 1170 SAT. In state: I live 40 minutes away from Cal Poly Pomona.

Thank you

Also Non-Impacted Major

Here is the CSU local service area so you can see if you are local: https://www2.calstate.edu/apply/freshman/documents/csulocaladmission-serviceareas.pdf

Local applicants get priority but it is not a guarantee of admission.

Intended major? since CPP admits by eligibility index and major. Your EI= (3.5 x800) + (1170)= 3970. Your EI can be competitive for most of the CPP majors. Impacted majors may be 50/50.

CPP takes up to the December SAT sitting so bumping up your test scores could definitely help your chances.

@Gumbymom I looked at Cal Poly Pomona’s admission data and for 2017-2018 their average acceptance GPA was 4.9 with a SAT of 1036. Does this mean if I apply to impacted majors Im going to have a higher chance because I have a higher GPA and SAT test score?

I am assuming the 4.9 GPA is a typo since it is impossible with the CSU Calculation. According to the Fast Facts, the average CSU GPA was 3.45 and SAT 1036. You would have a higher chance by being above the average, but you have to remember the CSU’s admit by Eligibility index and major. You will be compared only to applicants in your intended major. Higher SAT and GPA means a higher EI. CPP is also one of the few CSU’s that considers your alternate major (if not impacted).

Definitely worth an application but make sure you apply widely and have few safety schools on your list.

Oh my god. I meant 3.4. Thank you for your help

As a local applicant to a non-impacted major, probably. Please apply elsewhere as well.

Chico, Northridge. Somoma and San Marcos are worth a look.

Good luck

My UC GPA was the same & i had a slightly lower SAT score & i live the same distance from cpp. I got in & currently attend, non-impacted major too. good luck!
