Crabby Parents

^^

I think most of us get that, we are just venting.
They probably vent about us to their friends too (granted this is an online forum, same thing).

I usually love my parents. But, as I love a good rant just as much as the next person, I will give this a try...

1.) My dad does NOT want me to major in biochem. He thinks that good grades = opportunity to make more money, and therefore wants me to go into business and... I don't know, become the CEO of Disney and rule the Universe =)
2.) My dad is in the middle with some sort of competition with his partner at work.... the competition is, "Who Can Get His Daughter Into A More Prestigious College?" -I- am realistic. I know that although I'm academically strong, I don't have the EC's to get into HYP. But, my dad just doesn't get it. I don't want to apply to these schools, but he's going to FORCE me to... basically.
3.) Despite my dad's strong opinions about which schools I apply to, he's ridiculously uncooperative in regards to the extracurricular activities that would HELP me get into these schools.

Exhibit A: During last summer, he wouldn't let me apply to any summer programs because 'it would interfere with our family time over vacation.'
Exhibit B: He won't let me sign up to tutor, because 'it would take time away from studying.'
Exhibit C: He won't let me take driver's ed during the school year for the same reason, and won't let me take it during any school vacations because 'he's worked hard throughout the year and he's NOT going to stay at home because I "need" to take driver's ed.'

I mean, I'm not blaming alllll of my problems on my dad. Most of the problem comes from my lack of initiative freshman and sophomore year.... hahaha. But, it doesn't help that now that I've gained some motivation, my dad is preventing me from putting it to good use.
