Hi, I am an out of state applicant (OOS) and when I applied to cal, i listed a number of courses as "honors" because I thought it meant that I was accelerated in these subjects (aka taking them a year or two ahead of everyone else). However, I just realized that they have to be UC approved courses and there is no way i could have taken them anyways since I was not in CA.

Question: Should I write to berkeley and tell them to revise my application. It would be a pain to explain because I also have a number of AP and college credit courses and the three courses that i DID note as honors are spread out (so it might be a little confusing) or should I just leave it and they will ignore my "honors" classes because I noted myself as an OOS applicant.

I would say tell them. They will ask for the official transcript when you get accepted and it might look like you “lied” on your application.

I also don’t think “they will ignore my “honors” classes because I noted myself as an OOS applicant.” It really shouldn’t be that big of a deal but Ill contact them just in case.

sorry i mean’t that since it is impossible for an OOS to take a UC-designated honors course (it’s for in state people only), they would probably just dismiss the fact that i DID designate something as honors as a mistake, but i think i’m just gonna fax them a short letter just in case

I wouldn’t bother doing anything about it. You’re out of state, they probably wouldn’t give much consideration to what your state views as ‘honors’ anyway.

i would tell them.
there is always the risk that the admission office would think you’ve intentionally put down honors. it is your responsibility to fill the application and inform them if you have any changes.
its just an email, much more is at stake if you don’t email them.
