Creative Resume Supplement

Hi, I’m submitting an artistic resume for writing and film, and I’m wondering what exactly I should include and how I should include it. I’ve done both creative projects and educational projects (videos, short plays, etc) and I’m wondering if I should include both. Also, should I just list each item, or should I also include a brief description of what each project was? I don’t know how strict they are when evaluating it as a “professional resume.”

Not sure if this is true, but I think generally artists have CV’s on their website, so you can take a look. If you’re submitting an artistic resume, of course include everything you can. Include at least a description of what type of project it is - probably best to limit to one or, at most, two sentences per item, but yeah, it should be very clear exactly what it was. I doubt they’re too strict in evaluating it “professionally.” Note that it’s completely OK to not submit one if it wouldn’t add anything to your application - as a composer, I never submitted one. This is what one of my professors suggested in terms of categories for a CV, for my field:

-Education/Private Teachers
-Awards/Prizes
-Recent Performances (of your compositions) [in this case it would be screenings of your films, probably]
-Upcoming Engagements (performances etc) [same]
-Residences, Workshops, Summer programs etc
-Related Professional Experience [educational engagements etc.]
-List of Works (sorted by genre)

Feel free to modify as necessary. Each item should probably have a bullet and, if desirable, an accompanying description.

Good luck!
