Creative Writing Arts Supplement page requirement

Alright, so this question is probably really inane, but I just need to make sure.

I'm submitting a creative writing supplement, the page limit for such supplements is "no more than five pages." The short story I want to submit is about five pages and one paragraph, (like 5 and a quarter) double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman, etc, etc. (Basically MLA format--I've been taught that everyone wants anything written to be double-spaced.)

Is that five page limit a hard limit? And, also, do you think the adcoms care if it's single or double-spaced?

I suppose the question is, how important do you think it is to the ad coms that you follow instructions accurately? Your formatting sounds great but my hunch would be paring it down to the requested limit would be advisable. If you are unsure about spacing, perhaps a call to the admissions office would also be a good idea.
