<p>If you are looking at undergrad, you don’t apply to the writing program, you apply to MIT as a whole and then select the writing program as your major at the end of freshman year.</p>
<p>Yes, MIT at undergrad accepts admissions to the Institute, not to ANY department or program. Whether you are planning to study Architecture, Writing, or Biomechanical Engineering, the admissions process and the criteria are precisely identical. Also, all students, regardless of major must complete the General Institute Requirements (including a year of math and a year of physics, amongst other requirements), so some non-STEM applicants are put off by that.</p>
