Credit Card Suggestions

I’ve started to look at the Citis and they seem great. Also, they always seem to be at the top of the list for best student credit cards. I’ll probably go with that.

anything good about BAnk of America?

Also, can you pay your bills directly out of your checking account? or do you have to physically mail something?

Bank of America is good. I use them for my Checking/Savings accounts as well as a few CD’s. I was planning on getting a credit card from them too, I believe they do Visa.

after you guys build up some credit, look into the chase freedom card. it’s awesome

you guys are pathetic…get a Black Card–the Amex one, not the Visa crap

“Bank of America is good. I use them for my Checking/Savings accounts as well as a few CD’s. I was planning on getting a credit card from them too, I believe they do Visa.”

They do. I have a credit card from them. Not fancy. I don’t think there are any rewards on the one I have. I dont use it much. Its for emergencies.

"Also, can you pay your bills directly out of your checking account? "

You can do direct. Mailing gets tricky with dorms since you move around to different places and that could screw up you receiving something. I’m doing paperless stuff.

“They do. I have a credit card from them.”

Does Bank of America have a certain credit history requirement to get a credit card if you’re a student? Because I tried applying for a card to build credit, and I still didn’t get it.

Was it the student card? The one that says ‘To help college kids build credit’?

"Was it the student card? The one that says ‘To help college kids build credit’? "

Yes.

Yeah, because we all spend $250,000+ yearly -_-

I don’t turn 18 for a few days, but I already know my parents can’t act as cosigners (bad credit), and I have no one else who can sign for me. I also won’t have a job until I actually start school in three weeks. Should I even bother applying for one, or should I put it off for awhile?

I’d wait until you are 18. And after a month at work so you can put your income on there.

But that is just me.

“We have received your application and further processing is required at this time. We will contact you within a week via email regarding our decision.”

They didn’t just give me a response online… Does this mean it’s going to be a delayed rejection?

This was for the Citi Forward Card.

That’s what I got the first time I applied as well. A few days later I received an email stating that they just needed enrollment verification from my university and a telephone statement or something like that in order to continue processing. I can’t get the enrollment verification until next week, so I’m not sure what the result would’ve been.

Telephone statement from you or the school? And what do they mean by enrollment verification? Like a copy of our acceptance form?

This is what was in the email:

“If you are a college student, please send only your telephone bill and an original letter on official letterhead from your bursar or admissions office. The letter should state your enrollment date and confirm that you are still enrolled.”

Hm, okay.

Well, I hope that means we’ll get accepted for it afterward.

It took a while (maybe a month or two) for the bank affiliated with my school to approve me for a credit card. This was before the new regulations, however.

I know that I got that notification, then was simply not told anything until i called and found out that my card was in the mail. It doesn’t mean anything, it just means that they need to check your credit history and such (if you have one).

I have a copy of my mom’s credit card that’s in my name. Does anyone know if that establishes credit? How about a checking account?
