I will be attending college as a freshman this fall. Before I go, I want to have a credit card. I was wondering what cards do you guys recommend for a student. I am very responsible with my credit card, and plan to pay everything in full that I will purchase for that month. Thanks

hmm, I haven't done a lot of research on this, but I guess get one of those cards from Citi. They always have really good deals for new users and they have frequent flyer and student types

There are many banks that offer college student accounts that include a credit card. You might want to look into that. Not wishing to promote one bank...but both of my kids have the college account with Bank of America that include no service charges for college students, checking, savings, ATM/debit, credit card and free online banking.

Since you're a freshman, take a look at your whole banking/credit picture. Your goal is to get banking/credit costs down to $0 -- or less w/interest&rebates. This means free checking acct (w/ overdraft protection if you can get it), no ATM fees, and a no annual fee credit card with rebates, since you (wisely) plan on paying it off monthly. (This fall, my son is going to a relatively isolated campus with 1 ATM. He will be opening a free checking acct with that bank to avoid ATM charges.) If you are within the field of membership of a credit union, see what they can offer. I have found them to be more forgiving than the mega banks & credit card providers.

I second the use of a credit union. They tend not to fee and fine you to death. Our credit union account provides for up to eight foreign ATM transactions per month. Many of the big bankers are getting killed by their mortgage problems and are looking to make up the money in other areas.

There are lots of threads on this. Do a search....
