Credit limitations at UCLA

In LS, one of the requirements you need 180 units to graduate

"Community College Unit Limit. After completing 105 quarter units toward the degree in all institutions attended, students are allowed no further unit credit for courses completed at a community college."

"Advanced Placement Tests. Advanced Placement (AP) Test credit may not be applied toward a degree unless students had less than 36 units of credit at the time of the examination(s). "

I am going to apply to UCs next year, UCLA being one of them. I will have completed all the preparation classes for Biochemistry, plus 2 upper division classes that transfer. IGETC complete.

I planned ahead briefly and it seems that I would be able to realistically complete my Biochemistry BS in 3 quarters. However, I would be short from the 180 unit requirement because of CCC credit limitations. I have 2 APs from high school that would total to 16 units and I'd still need 25+.

Would UCLA accept AP tests that I take the May prior? Or would it be to late because of "credit may not be applied toward a degree unless students had less than 36 units"?

Anybody else have a similar situation? Any successful petition stories?

Thanks

are you saying that you have 180 units already before transfer? if you go to a community college, then only a certain number of units will transfer over. the rest will get course credit so you can take upper division courses in that area if you wish. if you are transferring with a major, you also need to complete upper division requirements and other courses to reach those 180 units because all the courses you take, depending on the college, might not be applicable to the degree because you still need to take your major courses

all the prep classes = over 70 units…

I have finished all the pre-reqs + IGETC and I have a 81 semester units… The max you can transfer is 70 semester units. (I haven’t taken any extra classes either…)
