Due to exploring possible majors, I will be transferring with 80 credits. I understand that the maximum of transferable credits is 60. So do 20 that aren’t apart of my major get tossed aside? Do those then not count towards my gpa, or is my gpa still the cumulative of the original 80 units?
You would need to ask your new school how they will treat prior grades. They may have you start from zero on the grade front.
My D is transferring over 12 credits when she starts Freshman year at her new university. During her senior year, she accumulated those credits through dual enrollment. When I called her new university where she will be starting in the Fall, they told me that she will walk in with 12 credits but her GPA on her first day there will be a 0.0, equal to all of the new year freshman students.
I was also hoping that the U would recognize the 4 A’s she received (merit $$$ and a 4.0 freshman start), but the U said that if she took those credits there, that would have bumped her GPA at the start of freshman year, but because she is transferring them in from a CC, she will start with a 0.0 like all the other freshman.
